Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart and parts of the circulatory system.
Our cardiologist, Zia U. Khan, MD is a board certified interventional cardiologist with a special interest in peripheral vascular disease (PAD). PAD carries a high mortality rate and often goes underdiagnosed and untreated. Dr. Khan focuses on early diagnosis and prevention.
A blocked artery can be treated by navigating a tiny ultrasound camera through blood vessels to reach the artery and shaving off plaque using cutting devices. Recovery is remarkable with most patients walking out the same day, instead of experiencing a painful and lengthy convalescence made necessary by surgery.
